First Official Look at Windows 8

Microsoft previewed the next generation Windows OS warmly called Windows 8. The IU was completely revamped. Gone are the days of using the start menu and task bar. DNA strains were taken from Windows Phone 7 with the use of live tiles in the start screen. The OS promises the flexibility to run on desktop PC, laptop PC and tablets. Welcome also Internet Explorer 10 and a touch keyboard layout optimized for thumb typing without the need to put the tablet down. This is handy for typing while walking or just standing up anywhere.

Microsoft has a dedicated website where they invite developers to help build the next generation Windows. The tagline is sweet:

"In 1995, Windows changed the PC.
BUILD will show you that Windows next changes everything."
